Strategies For Success: The Samurai And The Mouse

Strategies of Success

Despite being skilled in martial arts, a samurai warrior failed to get rid of this big rat. That rat kept destroying something or the other every day, was very alert and very smart.

The samurai warrior used many tricks but this one proved to be ineffective.

At last he went to the market to buy a cat, He returned home after a week of meowing, jumping and chasing the cat around the house,

The mouse did not reach his hand, the samurai was disappointed and decided to return the cat to the merchant.

While returning the cat, a nearby merchant started bragging about his cat. The samurai looks at his cat and buys his cat and returns home, but this time too the samurai is disappointed.

Samurai had a habit of going to a monk every day and telling him his problem.

The monk gave him a cat which looked lazy but the samurai could not refuse, Ever since he brought her, she looked as if she was sleeping. She always sat near the fire and ate when food was served.

And kept sitting.

The very next day the samurai warrior goes to return it, But the monk says, keep it for a few more days,

He comes back with the cat.

There is a saying that when the cat sleeps, the mice dance.

That cat kept sitting as if it was sleeping, not only that samurai but perhaps that mouse also felt this way.

And he became carefree and started creating trouble but as soon as he reached near the cat, the cat immediately caught him.

The samurai warrior also saw this moment and he went into deep contemplation for some time,

The samurai learned to observe things, to have stability, to have strategy, to have dedication to the goal (because he was dedicated to finding a solution to the problem again and again).

Along with the samurai, we too can learn these important things

What can we learn from this whole incident

  1. Before achieving success, the Samurai patiently and determinedly adopted different methods, from a young and agile cat to an old and lazy looking cat.

  2. The monk's cat waited to catch the mouse with simplicity and calmness despite its lazy behavior and did not waste its energy by running after the mouse unnecessarily.

3. That samurai learned a valuable lesson from the Zen monk's cat / This shows that we should always be open to learning from every perspective.

  4. Progress through contemplation The samurai reflected on the lesson learned from the monk's cat, contemplated and adopted it in his life and progressed,

This story also tells us that sometimes the results in life are not favorable to us, if we cannot change them, then we should accept them without any hesitation and move on.
